CITIES - sculptures and land art

Dordrecht

In 1988 the city of Dordrecht commissioned Lucien den Arend to design and make a sculpture for the playground of the John F. Kennedy School. Children had to be able to play with and on the work without any damage being done to either the work nor to the children. Lucien den Arend had worked more for playgrounds; and also in this case he made no concessions as far as his concept is concerned. The result is always a sculpture and never a playground furnishing.
