Land art and site specific sculpture in the urban setting. Environmental sculpture is an art form which uses the environment as its material. Concrete art is, like any art form, human made and is therefore geometric in essence. Public art is art which can be viewed and accessed by the public.

I have been been making sculptures, land art and environments since the end of the sixties. A geometric framework forms the basis for my sculptures. I am concerned about being able to construct a sculpture based on this framework. The geometric and systematic nature of my sculpture infers that every sculpture is premeditated.

In 1969 I received my first commission to make an environmental work. It was an enclosed garden for the DSW plant in Dordrecht, Holland. Since then I have carried out various site specific works. For me there is not only one approach to a project; each site is different and has its own possibilities.

Some works complement their surroundings, others create a new environment in themselves. In some instances, as is the case with my last studio in Holland, the evident functional requirements were a new challenge for me. For a random overview of my sculpture - view 21

When necessary I will use color on my sculpture.

The scale models which I have made for many of my site specific art projects are now on this site. Until June 2003 I lived and worked in Holland. I am now based in Finland
