Lucien
den Arend has been working in various
studio's. His first large plaster model was made on the courtyard of his
house in Zwijndrecht, Holland. Sheets of plastic kept out the winter
showers.
Around 1970 he moved into a former
blacksmith's shop in the oldest
part of the same town. During these years he worked on plans for a
new studio on the adjoining parcel
of land. In 1982 it was finished and he joined it to his blacksmiths
workshop studio.
During the nineties he and his family spent the
summers on their island in Lapland. There he built his
island studio in 2002.
In 2003 he and his family moved to Finland - into an
old manor with various buildings on the grounds.
The stables are now being turned into his
present studio.
During the spring of 2006 all of his large
sculptures, which are still in his possession, were returned to him from
their ten year loan to the town of Kajaani, Finland. They now form part of
his private Penttilä Open Air
Museum, POAM. sculpture park. |
