Rotterdam
Plantage Building
In 1986 the association of home owners of the Plantage building in Rotterdam Holland, commissioned Lucien den Arend to make a proposal for a site specific work for the entrance hall of their apartment house. He was also asked to make a scheme for the colors in the building.
This project was initiated around the time that the monumental concrete construction Homage to Oud and van Doesburg, Marconi Waltz was originating on the Rotterdam Marconi Square. These four panels actually represent the four projections of the Marconiplein sculpture. The perpendicular planes are projected as white squares and the edges as black lines. Two sets of two panels are identical; but one of each is rotated 90˚.
