The Mikkeli sculpture park.

Mikkeli Park (Mikkelipuisto) in the city of Mikkeli in Finland is gradually being developed into an international park with specialty gardens developed by different designers and companies. These will attract visitors from around the world. In 2009 the organization of Mikkelipuisto asked Marja de jong of Saksala ArtRadius and me, as initiator of POAM Sculpture Park to help set up an international sculpture park.

This esker on the west side of Mikkeli Park is a perfect location on which to exhibit sculpture. Although this steel sculpture was exhibited in various urban situations, its material blends in with nature. It geometry complements it, as nature complements the sculpture. Even though the city has not indicated that it is actually interested in having an international sculpture park within its boundaries, a scene like this is a good example of what it will be like. If we don't succeed this time, the time will come that images like this one will show that there was a vision.
