CITIES - sculptures and land art

Kantri & Urbaani - the environmental sculptures of Lucien den Arend - his environmental willow project in Lappeenranta, Finland - site specific art

2008 - impressionistic circumstantial demarcation, urban oasis - 37x37 steps

The term impressionistic in the title entered my mind on the morning I came to install my project. I had come without any detailed plans, and felt like an impressionist painter going into nature taking his material with him. I had my cut about sixty willow branches (thirty Salix Alba or Valkopaju - White Willow and thirty Salix Siberica or Hopea Paju - Silverpil), brought my tools and now had to find the right viewpoint from which to commence my work. I used twenty-five of each variety - per direction.
