LAND ART ENVIRONMENTS AND LANDSCAPE PROJECTS

section of Onwaardse Dike
Dirksland Holland

architectural environmental sculpture by the Finnish Dutch sculptur Lucien den Arend - Dirksland dike section and bridge

1984|1990 dike section, bridge and parallel rows of poplar trees - proposals for artistic details for Highway S47 (now N215) around Dirksland and Middelharnis, Provincial Department of Construction of the Province of Zuid-Holland NL - from the dikes bordering the Dirksland Canal, crossed by the bridge den Arend designed, one can't miss the Dirksland water tower - a prominent element in the landscape. Its elementary geometric form inspired den Arend to keep his contribution to the local environment simple and to the point.

On the photograph, just in front of the water tower, there is the section of the Onwaardse Dike.
