URBAN LAND ART - a concept for a park in Finland

Land Art in the urban environment

URBAN LAND ART - a concept sketches for a land fill
Developing the island concept with an urban forest for a park in Kajaani, Finland.

The next step was to introduce two symmetrical segments of forest with an open space between them. I named this public space piazza, saved from one of the earlier sketches (the triangular area). Here it is a large rectangular area - its length oriented on the northern sun on midsummer night. Contrary to my sketch (lower right) the sun will have set just before rising again. But from the middle of the piazza the sunset and the sunrise can be seen.
