Ede my site specific sculptures revisited (Lucien den Arend)
High-tech
The high-tech quality of the stairs and platform assembly symbolizes the urban location in which it is installed. The cantilevered platform offers the passerby, as well as the observer a chance to get another perspective on the site specific environment and, at the same time, have the experience of being above the water - standing on the grating.

back to my site specific sculptures revisited
Here you can see the contrast between the bald cypress trees and the perpendicular walls. During the period that this environment was being realized, I was working on the Dirksland bridge and surrounding polder environment, also in The Netherlands. Also there I contrasted the perpendicular placement of the sculptural colored planes with the natural elements on the site.
Parallel with the row of trees here, I installed parallel rows of trees (Italian Poplars) there in Dirksland. Poplar trees are indigenous in Holland - but in the case of the site specific sculpture environment, here in Ede, they are exotic, even though they thrive in this climate. And that is what I was looking for in this case.
