Arch a sculpture near Rotterdam in old Rhoon

"Arch" a sculpture near Rotterdam in old Rhoon (Albrandswaard).
Arch awaits being erected - spring 2012 photo©Jan van der Wal

In 1988 the story of arch started. I entered my sketch proposal for the application for a commission in The Hague. My proposal was selected and I made a formal proposal with a 1:100 mockup, drafts, calculations and the whole works. This was accepted and I had the pipe segments extruded around a mandrel at Westerpijp in the Hoeksewaard, near where I lived. At the time of this writing, 2012 the sculpture has almost completely been assembled and awaits its final erection.
