ENVIRONMENTS AND LAND ART PROJECTS
Walburg Project
Zwijndrecht Holland
|
1971|1973 earth, asphalt, meandering dike, bronze, high-tension pylon and pollard willows - 136x50x19m - Zwijndrecht, HollandTowards the end of the twentieth century the above ground high tension lines became obsolete and were removed. Because the pylon had become inextricably bound up with the project, Lucien den Arend was asked to make a proposal for the new situation. The pylon was truncated. He envisioned it as four tetrahedrons forming a new sculptural element. At the same time it became an industrial monument. |
