SCULPTURES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Checking the scale of the steel sculpture for the arch over the bend in the road in Rhoon in Holland
poort van Rhoon - steel sculpture for Rhoon, Albrandswaard in Holland - the scale of the sculpture in relation to the location in 1996.

I like to check the scale of site specific sculpture by way of several techniques. One of these is the easiest, and it gives me a quick idea of the impact of a sculpture. By holding is closer to me or further away, I can enlarge it or make it smaller. In this case I should have held it closer because now it suggests a height of only about seven meters, while it will be twelve and a half.

This location became an impossible one, Rhoon said. A much better location was at one of the more important entrances to the town - proposal for the Groenekruisweg entrance to Rhoon .
