Pieter Janszoon Saenredam project
2006 - pollarding the willows of the in Barendrecht, Holland
The three year old branches are removed in order for the cycle to start again. In the wet Dutch climate the branches can attain a length of two meters in one season. In three years time they can double in thickness and become twice as long.
