SKETCHES AND DRAWINGS FOR SCULPTURE

Wax crayon sketch with watercolor for a two piece stone sculpture..
Wax crayon sketch with watercolor for a two piece stone sculpture.

This was my first sculpture on a scale larger than what could fit into my hands - about 100cm tall. I constructed it in plaster at the art academy in Tilburg in 1968. It was exhibited in a small inner garden; in the Dutch climate it slowly disintegrated in a matter of a year or two. I suppose that I was more focused on the idea of making the lemniscate delineated forms than on the way they should have been connected. This resulted in a sculpture based on two lines of thought.
