SKETCHES AND DRAWINGS FOR SCULPTURE

A sketch for site specific sculpture for a dike along the river Oude Maas - sculptors' drawings and sketches

sketch - A sketch for site specific sculpture for a dike along the river Oude Maas - (never proposed)

Somewhat similar to my other silent proposal for four monolinear forms for the Dordrecht city offices (stadskantoor), each element of this double sculpture is constructed from polished stainless steel lemniscate-like shapes. The contour of such a form is a continuous line delineating the inner space.

At the time of this sketch I was discovering sites for which I developed specific ideas for sculpture. By placing forms with rounded surfaces on the slope of a dike would create the feeling of an invisible force keeping these sculptures from being pulled down by gravity. At the same time they seem weightless because the highly polished surfaces make the sculptures almost transparent.
