Public Sculpture
Utrecht
After this work of mine in Utrecht, The Netherlands was moved to OPAM-Drechtoevers Sculpture Park because after thirty-five years the building was demolished, I came across an exhibition about skateable sculptures by Raphaël Zarka, Manuel de sculpture instrumental - Musée Sainte-Croix - Poitiers, France. There were photographs there of examples - one of which was by the photographer, Ryan Flynn, of Grant Taylor skateboarding up my sculpture doing a Frontside Disaster transition trick. After some searching I found this clip of the Dutch martin Veldman with a more difficult twist to the trick.
I wonder if the boy who helped during the installation of the sculpture https://www.denarend.com/works/construction/installation-cor-ten-sculptures-utrecht/installing-steel-sculpture-18.htm and waited for the cement to harden with his skateboard has more to tell.
