Public Sculpture

Vaasa

When I conceptualized the idea for a work in the Onkilahti Park in Vaasa, Finland, I could not have imagined that anyone on wheels would ride off my sculpture, let alone be able to mount it. But here is the proof of someone traveling down the side of it on a skateboard. I sometimes do imagine how it would feel as a tiny creature riding a rollercoaster along the contour of some of my forms; forgetting the wear and tear of the color coating of my sculpture's surface for a moment, even this does look quite exciting. This is of course not purpose for which I made it.

Quite recently I was sent a link to a clip where someone on a snowboard - during the winter -  catapulted himself up and over this sculpture of mine.
