KARI PIIPPO

Graphic Designer Kari Piippo lives and works in Mikkeli Finland. Born in Finland in 1945. Studied at the department of Graphic Design, School of Industrial Arts, Helsinki. After graduating 1967 he specialized in illustration and poster design. Kari Piippo taught graphic design at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki in 1989 1997.
He has held many individual and group exhibitions at home and abroad. Piippo has given many poster workshops and lectures.

He has taken part in most important international exhibitions since the early 80's and has been as a jury member in many competitions since '89.
President of Helsinki Poster Biennial 1994 -1998.

Major Finnish awards include the State Industrial Arts Award, Graphic Artist of the Year, four Gold Awards and Platinum Award.

His many international awards include e.g. Gold from the Mexico Poster Biennial, Silver from the Lahti Poster Biennial, First Prize from the Biennale of Theatre Posters in Rzeszow, the Icograda Exellence Award in Chaumont, The President of the Brno Biennale Award and 1st Prize in Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition. Two Bronze Awards in the 8th Graphic Designers Poster Exhibition, Ningbo China 2001 and Bronze Prize in Korea International Poster Biennale 2002.

Kari Piippo is a member of AGI.
