Land Art 2000-2002

Land art in Walburg - braide fascine fence
Land art - Walburg/Volgerlanden projects merged

On this location my first land art projects were born. During the early sixties of the previous century I explored the perimeter of my hometown on my plein-air drawing and painting excursions.  At the north-west edge of town, where it borders on the town of Hendrik Ido Ambacht I photographed the sunset at that time not realizing that five years later I would be planning my first land art project there. This was an agricultural area up until 1970 when Zwijndrecht planned urban expansion on its side and in 2000 when H. I. Ambacht did the same.

Craftsmen braided fascine fences to protect the banks.
