LAND ART

land art project Urban Oasis

LAND ART in Ede - an Urban Oasis - Bald Cypress trees (Taxodium Distichum) in autumn colors, water, concrete and color.

The retaining walls define the space I call an Urban oasis. Around it are houses, streets, parking areas, appartment buildings, a school and a sports center. The pedestrian can look down upon this site and experience this urban land art from above - or he/she can descend onto the quay, right above the water's surface and become part of this environment.

The autumn colors of the Swamp Cypress trees' foliage relates to the vermillion-red of the long retaining wall and the staircase with balcony above the oasis. Ede is far from the Everglades, but the atmosphere evokes that of the habitat of the Swamp Cypress trees.
