Highway art - art in the road environment

highway A15 ripples in the Betuwe

Land art as a point of reference.
Art and the A15 - ripples and grooves along the highway.

As the selected three artists had been invited to make study-proposals, I played with the idea of making patterns in the form of visually tactile ripples alongside the highway. These strips could be introduced at certain related points to attract attention and give the driver and passengers visual and mental stimuli - very much different from the soothing landscape in the distance.
