land art - earthwork

The Walburg earthwork at sunrise.
This was my first earthwork, a land art project in Zwijndrecht, Holland - the Walburg Project.

The Zwijndrecht municipality ad asked me to make a proposal for a work of art which would fit into its surroundings and at the same time be functional. The location was up to me to suggest. Having just read a book on the work of Isamu Noguchi, I grasped this formulation as an authorization to interpret my task as freely as I felt necessary and focused on making an earthwork.
