x-ing - 2000 | 2002 - The meandering dike - continuation of the Walburg project into the Volgerlanden - island x-ing

To the west of the Walburg project, with its meandering dike , a water reservoir has taken the place of a ditch which separated Zwijndrecht from Hendrik Ido Ambacht. This used to be a straight line. The new shoreline will follow the curve of the meander. The five pollard willows were to remain on a mound in the water. However this proved to be impossible because the maintenance would have become too costly and they were removed.
