LAND ART ENVIRONMENTS AND LANDSCAPE PROJECTS

WILLOWS - land art in the garden of Dordrecht Municipal Museum.
Salix Alba - 24 pollarded willows and white latex - Ø400 cm - Dordrecht Municipal Museum NL - "round" - 1972

This was my first experience with sticking willow branches into the ground and waiting for them to start growing. I had gotten permission from the owner of a row of 50 to 100 year old pollard willows, on the south of Dordrecht Island in Holland, to pollard one or two of them and use them for my first willow-urban-land art project in the garden of Dordrecht Municipal Museum. It was one of my works in the presentation of Ten Young Dordrecht Artists (Tien Jonge Dordtse Kunstenaars) in 1972.
