SCULPTURES UNDER CONSTRUCTION - URBAN LAND ART

Here I am making the model for the acrylic water columns in my studio in Zwijndrecht.
The situation of my first environmental sculpture project during the early eighties.

As we can see in this picture, the continuing story of the pump not being turned on all the time, no maintenance of the lava stone field kept going. Birds dropped seeds of mainly willows and a forest appeared over the years. The grass had never been sown in the fields I had designed; shrubs were planted there, which became part of the jungle. Over the years repeated discussions about the direction wanting to demolish everything and the city council wanting to keep me in the picture. Many proposals and rejections passed and during the second decade of this century the building changed hands and all was demolished.
