When I first visited this site with other candidate sculptors interested in this project I envisioned a linear and open object, constructed as an interplay of curves dancing through the air. While working on my proposal and studying various other sculptural possibilities this initial idea kept forcing itself to the foreground. As my initial hunches had usually led to the final result, I gave in and at the last moment, which is usually the case in our profession, I made it my proposal. At first in my mind these curves were mitered but while making my model I concluded that when they would be independent curvilinear movements or gestures, like strokes of a pen, the effect would be stronger.
