Linear Sculpture - Sculpture in Lines

My first sculptures were about volume; but these volumes resulted from defining my contours first. Each form followed a plan, like a chess player preparing his moves. Saddle trajectories have intrigued me since I was maybe five years old; the entrance of the Maas Tunnel in Rotterdam had such a spatial curve under which my dad would drive when entering the tunnel. Every time we went to Rotterdam I couldn't miss it - a line going around a corner. This sculpture was a prize which the Kring van Nederlandse Theatercritici (Dutch Theater Critics) gave annually to an outstanding actor, production or writer.
