Linear Sculpture - Sculpture in Lines

Europa - a spiral and counter spiraling line.
Europa consists of three 180° revolutions of a spiral. The second revolution counters the two to which it is connected.

Up to the time I did this sculpture, the contour, or line describing the shape of a particular form, had been a continuous linear movement. My early titles often contained the word "continuity". This sculpture consists of three 180° revolutions of a spiral. But the second revolution counters the two to which it is connected. It is the first discontinuous movement in my sculptural works. The title "Europa" is derived from the road in the middle of which it is installed in Haarlem, Holland.
