a reclining sculpture
When a sculpture has not been installed yet
and its position has not yet been realized, it can sometimes be an
inspiration for other works. Here Gaia, as I later named her,
is awaiting the local decision makers to agree to the sculpture's final
erection. In this position it revealed an inspiring new perspective on
new possibilities to me. On this location, where in 2013 the green
buffer zone will have been created, she awaits a better future for
the land on which she lies. Gaea, or Gaia, was to be her name -
reclining Gaia the Goddess, mother of the earth.
She was
lying in this position for more than three months between March 20 until July 11th 2012 when
she was installed on her two legs and she became the
sculpture which was initially intended for this location. I hope
that - in the future - there will be an opportunity for me to recreate her in
this position on another location.
