Between Dirksland and Middelharnis runs Highway S47. The province of South Holland asked a sculptor to make a proposal for incorporating art into the highway environment. The sculptor Lucien den Arend was selected to make the final proposal and his sculptural contribution can be compared to a sculptor's landscape design. The sculptor also made the final design for the bridge over the Dirksland Canal.

Highway S47 runs from the top left to the lower right of the satellite image. The dike section is in the center, to the left of which bridge can be seen. The Italian Poplar screens are to the left of the bridge.
