ENVIRONMENTAL ART as OBJET TROUVÉ

Found art, or objet trouvé - environmental art "Roeselare Round"

Roeselare Round - pollard willow circle in Roeselare, Belgium 25|10|2009 - 50°55'13.20"N  3°10'12.17"E

Pollarded willows are for me a trademark of the lowlands - Holland and Belgium. As an eight year old boy I used to build enclosures by sticking willow branches into the ground in the Dordrecht wetlands. After I had decided to make sclupture, I made my first circle in 1972 and ten years later, in 1982, I made a larger one, on an island in Dordrecht, Holland. This circle was part of a willow project on four islands, called homage to Malevich.

It must have been around that same time that this Belgian Land Art trouvé circle must have been planted.
