This site will present a short history of the oldest part of the Dutch town of Zwijndrecht - across the river Oude Maas from Holland's oldest town, Dordrecht.
These pages will disclose copies of the correspondence between Lucien den Arend and the developer who received a permit from the Municipality of Zwijndrecht Holland to build a wall in front of den Arend's windows. These used to let in the morning sun which rises above the Dordrecht horizon. The reflected light would give light to the halls and staircase which have no windows themselves.
