Linear Sculpture - Sculpture in Lines

monolinear - 1978/1982 stainless steel - Ø 687cm - Duivenkamp Maarssenbroek, Maarssen NL
Monolinear - 1978/1982 stainless steel - Ø 687cm - Duivenkamp Maarssenbroek, Maarssen NL .

Since the circle is the basis of all the sculptures in Maarssen, I used the whole circle on two of the six sites; one in the central area and here I used it in a reclining position. Since the ground surface of the site has conical shape, the circle adjusts itself to the curvature. In this way it distinguishes itself from all the other sculptures in the Maarssenbroek residential area - having freed itself from the flat planes on which the composite parts of the other sculptures are projected.

Monolinear is alongside the area's ring road where cars pass to enter or exit the Duivenkamp residential area. All the other sites are along foot- or bicycle paths.
