LAND ART

land art project Urban Oasis

Dutch urban LAND ART in Ede - arched footbridge - 'Urban Oasis' - Bald Cypress trees (Taxodium Distichum), water, concrete and color.

As the northern part of the Rietkampen follows the old direction of the original creeks, it made it possible for me to adopt this characteristic aspect and strengthen it with the array of Swamp Cypress trees, which I projeced at the very edge of the waterway's west shore. This optimizes the characteristic Swamp- or bald Cypress, which thrives in wetlands. There it will form their peculiar growths called cypress knees - woody projections sent above the ground or water that are part of the root system and give structural support and stabilize the tree.

The fountain is supposed to be set at a level as to produce only bubbling water - a much more subtle effect than shown above. I suppose that someone in the public works department of Ede likes to createa much more festive atmosphere than I do.  maybe I will propose to them to have the fountaian squirt on national hollidays.
