East West (Oost West) Forum Dordrecht Holland

a photo report
Queen Beatrix opens the East West Forum (Oost West Forum) symposium

The old industrial area on the edge of the historic town of Dordrecht, the Netherlands is where the Victoria candy factory and the E.M.F. had functioned for many decades. This site was chosen by the organizing committee of the Dutch Sculptors' Association (Nederlandse Kring van Beeldhouwers) as the setting for the Japanese/Dutch sculpture symposium.

While Queen Beatrix and her party were still inside the former Victoria building the Japanese sculptors were preparing the splitting of the large stones - the first one to be split in the presence of the Queen.

Anna Pool was one of the photographers commissioned to document the symposium. Before she died, she gave me a series of her diapositives to use for any future documentation of the East West Forum. These web pages seemed most appropriate for this purpose - thank you Anna.
