Mathias Goeritz 1915-1990

Mathias Goeritz Mexican/German sculptor 1915-1990.

"lightning bolt" or "snake" - gilded steel sculpture - 28 x 94 x 13 cm - 1980.

In 1966 I had learned of Mathias Goeritz from the book Bouwmeesters van Morgen by my friend Joop Beljon. Joop was a friend of Matthias. They worked together in Mexico city, a sculptural event of the Games of the XIX. Olympiad - 1968 called The Route of Friendship. I had met Joop in 1965 when he participated in the California International Sculpture Symposium at California State College, Long Beach where I studied at that time.
