CITIES - sculptures and land art

the environmental sculptures of Lucien den Arend - his environmental willow project in Lappeenranta, Finland - site specific art

2008 - impressionistic circumstantial demarcation, urban oasis - 37x37 steps

The pond is on a lower level than the street at the end of the field. At the level of pond it seems that you are in the countryside.

The situation aroused in me a feeling of being in a northern oasis. Of course, Lappeenranta is just a town compared to a metropolis like Chicago or Paris. And there are few places in Finland where you are not aware of nature- if any. But here we are in Finland, where Lappeenranta is a relatively big city. And coming here from the center, encountering this environment is still surprising.
