CITIES - sculptures and land art

Lappeenranta

the environmental sculptures of Lucien den Arend - his environmental willow project in Lappeenranta, Finland - site specific art

2008 - impressionistic circumstantial demarcation, urban oasis - 37x37 steps

On the part of the pasture, lying in front of the old stone barn, there is a pond which may have served as a drinking place for livestock. Willow trees grow randomly around the pond. A few hundred meters from the location one finds himself in the middle of Lappeenranta's urban environment.

I experienced the pond as an oasis in this municipality.
