CITIES - sculptures and land art
Dordrecht
By autumn the upper shoots had grown to about one and a half meters, forming a ring of foliage above the circle. The willows continued growing in the years after the exhibition, but they never reached maturity: six years later the museum informed me they had been cut down the previous day following a new garden plan by Walter Nikkels. These photographs from 1972 remain the only record of the original work. The museum later offered support to reinstall the project at another location in Dubbeldam, where it would continue in a different form.
