CITIES - sculptures and land art
Leeuwarden
The garden architect had already planned a heather garden with more or less exotic plants for as far the environment of Leeuwarden, Friesland is concerned. This gave Lucien den Arend an opportunity to make a natural sculpture, consisting of trees, which actually belong in the soil of this part of the Netherlands. At the same time there would be an explicit contrast - especially for the horticulturalists among us - between the two approaches to designing a garden.
