A new road through a traditional English rural landscape presents a number of problems which can be solved responsibly. Approaching this from an artist's point of view will give unexpected results.

A roundabout in Heemskerk, Holland
This roundabout sculpture is constructed by connecting two 180 degree circle segments. Since each segment is in its own plane, the sculpture projects itself as a turned over letter 'V' when it is approached from one of the roads. And when the roundabout is approached from the perpendicular road, the sculpture projects itself as an ellipse - as the two halves are a circle which has been widened at its base.
