SCULPTURES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

construction of steel sculpture in Rotterdam for the arch over the road at Rhoon, Albrandswaard in Holland
poort van Rhoon - 2008 - construction of a monumental steel sculpture for Rhoon, Albrandswaard in Holland.

During the winter of 2008, my inspections of the progress in installing the sculpture on the new location - next to the Rhoonse Baan - it became clear that nothing was happening. The construction had (been) stopped after the pile driving and foundation works were done. The sculpture was waiting for the final assembly as shown here in the photographs I took at that time.

After I returned home, I learned that the company, which was working on installing the sculpture, had been notified by the Mayor and Aldermen of Albrandswaard (since the beginning of this sculpture's history, Rhoon had become part of a new municipality) to stop all work, ditch the project and transport the various parts of the sculpture to a temporary location near the grounds of the public works department...
