SCULPTURES UNDER CONSTRUCTION - URBAN LAND ART

Making the model for the acrylic water columns.
1969-1970 - The plaster model for the acrylic water columns.

To make this model I used a six meter long cardboard tube and attached 1,956 meters of wooden slats or strips parallel to and around the circumference of the tube to form the bulge. The whole is covered with Plaster of Paris and tooled to a lamp chimney-like shape. The acrylic water columns were created by stretching heated acrylic sheets around this positive plaster form and gluing the sections together.
