Kan een bestaand kunstwerk functioneren op een nieuwe plek?

antwoord Lucien den Arend:

Ja, een kunstwerk dat niet op een nieuwe plek kan functioneren bestaat niet.

Want, wanneer een kunstwerk zijn waarde geheel of gedeeltelijk zou ontlenen aan de context waarin het geplaatst is, dan zou het heteronoom zijn; en een kunstwerk is per definitie autonoom. Elk kunstwerk is dus te verplaatsen.
