LAND ART - public lecture at zlgevents courtyard - Kuala Lumpur sketch for DSW garden, Dordrecht Holland

My first idea was to take the idea for a pond and invert it - a concrete slab protruding through the ground and being covered with a film of water flowing over the edges into an underground reservoir. It would be constantly pumped up into overflowing transparent organic columns. These would act like lenses when filled with water.

In this first stage I wanted a flat field of grass to 'float' above the rest of the area, as well as above the film of water. This was the form of the original 'L' shaped pond.

I made one model with an over-length so that all the water columns could be shaped around this one basic form - in this way the place of the bulge could vary in height.
