Red & Sculptures

I can't say exactly why I painted that one side of one of the three pieces red; it was the only side which was flat and different from the other faces of the three-part work - and I felt that it added to the piece which was not conceived as a sculpture. The were sawn out of another work which I was making; I had to go into that with my chainsaw and out came these pieces. I put them aside like one saves interesting found objects. At that time I was working in Finnish Lapland and could not take them with me on my flight. So I left them in the forest next to a friend's garden. A year later i visited Lapland by car and decided to reinstate them as a work of art - a true objet trouvé. The signal red made it official.
