A new road through a traditional English rural landscape presents a number of problems which can be solved responsibly. Approaching this from an artist's point of view will give unexpected results.

Crossing the railway tunnel under the A15, the motorist gets a view of the sculptural shape of the meander. In our time the outskirts of the city would have reached the meandering dyke. On the inside of the sound barrier, the meander provides interesting opportunities for landscaping and parks.
