Linear Sculpture - Sculpture in Lines

During the first half of the seventies I was involved in several proposals for urban land art, or environmental sculpture as I called it at that time. In the Dutch town of Capelle aan den IJssel, next to two schools there was a piece of land which would remain green. next to it there was a reservoir.

Linear shapes and movements in an early urban land art project in Netherlands.
An asphalt meandering dike and a meandering concrete wall echo each other.

Meandering and serpent-like forms draw lines - make their way to the shore to the right and into the water, which is pumped up through the concrete wall and flows down the vertical edge into the reservoir.
