Queen Beatrix visits the East West ForumQueen Beatrix enters the work floor in the old Victoria Factory. When we had done our round meeting the sculptors at work and seeing the land art project and the sculptural elements of the illusion of civilization, she wanted to see another work by Marinus Boezem, which was on the roof. ![]() Here the queen and I just returned from the roof.Marinus Boezem had made a silhouette of an airplane on the roof - an airplane that would gradually take off and fly away; for the pigeons would eat from it every day as it was made from corn. The queen insisted we go and see it. But the only staircase, which gave access to the roof, was not in daily use; and it was a dirty mess there. Moreover, the key was lost. Some of the sculptors knew a way to open the door and the queen, Marinus and I climbed the stairs. I went ahead of her and discreetly kicked human made objects to the side (the staircase had been unlocked by vagrant trailer people for the period they lived on the site). At the top of the flights of steps there was a steel ladder to a hatch giving access to the roof. The queen and we climbed the four meter ladder to see the piece. |
