Willy Sluiter (1873-1949)

Jan Willem (Willy) Sluiter (Amersfoort, May 24 1873 - Den Haag, May 22 1949).

Willy Sluiter - marshland - oil paint on canvas (mounted on plywood) - partly with palette knife - 24x31.5cm.

I bought this painting, along with the seascape near Crete at an auction in the sixties in Dordrecht. When I first noticed it, I thought it was an early Mondriaan. It wasn't, but is just as good.
